I can't sleep when I think about the times we're living in ::

Hello, 2008! It's a new semester and I plan on bringing a lot of great stuff to my show on WGUR that will hopefully be productive to my show The Metro. Tonight's show was pretty low-key with a little visit from my friend Cooper but still A+ music all the same!

Pinback -- "Tres"
Yeasayer -- "2080"
Black Lips -- "O Katrina!" [download mp3]
Radiohead -- "House of Cards"

Cat Power -- "Metal Heart"
Sneaker Pimps -- "6 Underground (Nelle Hooper edit)"
Charlatans -- "The Only One I Know" [download mp3]
Kate Nash -- "Merry Happy"
Led Zeppelin -- "In the Evening"

Sadly, there was no featured band on the show but hopefully I can get my act together and have one for Thursday. :]

top 35 of 2007::

Wow, what a way to keep this blog going. I think I should add "keep this blog alive" as one of my new year's resolutions along with going to class more & saving as much money as possible so I can waste it all ridiculous trips to Chicago for Harry Potter nerdism and New York City to see Daniel Radcliffe blind some horses and get his kit off. Good times to be had by all this year, believe me.

Earlier in December I was told that WGUR 88.9 is going to be streaming online this semester so get excited! As for my show I've now upgraded to a whopping two shows a week and will now be playing all my ridiculous indie music on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-7pm EST (I think. . . I honest to god can't remember what time slot I signed up for so it'll be a surprise to both you and I).

Anyways, since the radio station isn't really being aired right now with everyone away for the holidays I can't really make any posts about any recent shows but why not my favourite songs of 2007? y/n? I mean, I know Pitchfork did their little shindig that had some people up in arms and I don't even want to freaking talk about how utterly mental the Rolling Stones list is but here are just 35 songs that made my 2007 so musically fantastical in oh so many ways.

girl talk live in seattle ::

Once again, Good Weather For Airstrikes is being mind-blowingly awesome, as usual.

Girl Talk

Girl Talk has been one of my favorites this year and here is an excellent example of how nothing compares to seeing this kid live. This cutie straight out of PA has been making a name for himself by doing mash-ups that can only be described as pure genius. I'm in love with his album Night Ripper but I do believe this copy of his live show in Seattle has definitely taken the lead.

Featured Band of the Show

Voxtrot

I just recently got into this band only back in July and let me tell you, they are a force to be reckoned with. This band may not have a handful of albums under their belt or years and years of experience but they are the next big thing in America. Hailing from Austin, Texas, Voxtrot has been making music news since they hit the scene back in early 2006 when they released their Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives EP after only mainly selling out stores in Austin since 2003. Not only are the lyrics absolutely mesmerizing in each song but they have a sound to them that one can't help get into. After touring with the Arctic Monkey on their American tour last summer and the release of their self-titled album back in May, you can bloody well count on these guys making more news than they all ready have.
